The rut is on! Okay, not really. It'southward been epically common cold here in the Bay Area, but that's not stopping me from looking forward to summer. A few days ago the weather dude said information technology might even go cold enough to snowfall here this week, and when yous're a California conditions wimp like me, that'south all the motivation y'all need to indulge in a bout of summery escapist daydreaming. Never heed the fact that it's barely 50 degrees outside. If I pretend difficult enough, it'll seem similar summer. 🙂
What I wouldn't give for shorts and flip-flop conditions correct now… Wouldn't information technology be fantastic if we could driblet everything, change our plans and take an immediate tropical vacation today? I'd be happy to share my sunscreen with y'all (gotta protect that skin, yo!) and, I should warn you, I volition nag you nigh wearing your sunglasses. I've already got a purse packed and ready to go with our sunny twenty-four hours hair essentials — a tube of exit-in conditioner and dominicus protectant spray. And don't make me bug you most wearing that lid of yours, young lady, especially if you've got highlights/colour.
My hair and I learned that lesson the hard style on 1 of our outset trips to visit El Hub's family in Hawaii. I spent most of the fourth dimension in the water, either surfing in the ocean or swimming in the pool, and by the end of the trip, the golden highlights I'd gotten a few weeks earlier looked lackluster, brassy and basically bad. My mane looked like straight upwardly haaay!
When I got dorsum to the Bay Area, my stylist gave me a good dose of tough hair love equally well as some tips for the futurity to protect my hair colour in the heat.
Outset, she suggested spritzing hair with a sun protectant spray before heading outside, and wearing hats whenever possible. Next, before pond in either a pool or the ocean, she recommended wetting hair thoroughly with fresh water to permit the strands absorb as much clean H2o every bit possible, as saltwater and chlorinated h2o can mess with hair colour, too.
Lastly, she suggested keeping a canteen of leave-in-conditioner in your beach bag to apply to hair right later on surfing or swimming as a quick way to restore wet and provide pilus with a niggling TLC.
Yes, summer nonetheless feels virtually a billion miles away, simply at least that gives us fourth dimension to gear up, ready, set up! 🙂
What are some of your favorite tips and tricks to continue your colour fresh and protect it in the heat and lord's day?
